To: Clergy, Retired Clergy, Deacons, ECW, and Church Periodical Club Representatives
I wanted to take just a minute of your time and reintroduce myself as your CPC Diocesan Coordinator. I (Jennifer Douglass Alexander), grew up at St. John’s in Montgomery. My grandfather, Charles Hervey Douglass was the Rector at St. John’s for 27 years. He went through seminary at Virginia Theological Seminary. My grandfather had a big influence in teaching, mentoring, and even writing a book to go hand- in-hand with a class he taught. My grandfather loved to read, learn, teach, and mentor. He had a large library of his own that he turned to for teaching and his personal growth. Many of the books he utilized, our family donated to the church library at St. John’s. I think donating to the CPC for our future seminarians is a great way for these young scholars to start their own legacy.
Last year we were able to give all of the seminarians $450 towards books to assist with their study and growth. This year I would like to challenge everyone to make this year’s CPC contribution double for each seminarian. We currently have 10 in the state of Alabama. One way we could make this possible would be to include all ECW groups throughout the state. At Holy Cross Trussville we held a Baking for Books Sale. Holy Cross was able to Donate $500 last year to CPC. If all ECW across the state held a Baking for Books Sale just imagine what we would be able to contribute this year!
I want to give you all the names of current seminarians, one may attend your church and you may not have even realized it.

A Prayer For Our Alabama Seminarians:
Lord Jesus, we ask your special blessing on the seminarians of the Diocese of Alabama as they prepare for ordained ministry. We pray they will grow in faith, hope, and charity. May the gifts of the CPC aid them in their studies, that they will be formed for ministry with a compassionate heart, a hunger for understanding and wisdom, and a desire to inspire others in answer to your call. When they are lonely or discouraged, fill them with your peace and the knowledge of our care for them. May your spirit be known by them and through them, for your glory and honor and the furtherance of your kingdom. AMEN
Thank you for supporting this wonderful ministry. Please make checks payable to:
